Pixel physics is a concept I came up with experimenting with the 2D physics engine in Unity.
Turns out it was a bit of fun blasting apart little pixel art space invaders where each individual pixel is a simulated rigid body… SpaceyVade was born.
I also quickly realised it easy to make a huge out of control mess with so much physics simulation (most likely why we don’t see massive dynamic physics in AAA titles). There is a lot of tweaking going on in the background to make things not get too messy and be fun to play.
If we have any sort of success with SpaceyVade I’d like to make a few more games of different styles with a similar core concept.
